Building Green

"Building Green" is a hot topic.  It can be just a catch phrase, but for J. E. Larkin it means something:

Positioning the home on the lot to take advantage of the New Mexico sun in the winter and reduce its impact in the summer

Using energy-efficient materials in constructing the exterior walls and in insulating the house...Sealed correctly

Using skylights and windows as means of ventilation and cooling in the summer and heating in the winter

Installing efficient heating and cooling units as well as efficient appliances.

Using active or passive solar power as well as wind power to offset rising utility costs and to make the homeowner more energy self-sufficient

Stains & Paints with low or zero VOCs

Carpets made of corn blends & renewable polymers

Plaster finished with beeswax for that final comforting glow

Tile and or Flagstone for flooring

As a licensed New Mexico General Contractor with an engineering background, J. E. Larkin is ideally positioned to help you reduce your "carbon footprint," become more energy efficient, and rely on the renewable energy resources which New Mexico has in abundance.

J. E. Larkin is a member of Build Green New Mexico.  (Click on the Build Green logo to go to the Build Green New Mexico web site.)

In New Mexico green technologies include the following:

The source of energy efficiency may be a photovoltaic solar cell that generates electricity.

Solar cells and collectors may be mounted on a roof and look like a skylight.
We can also achieve energy efficiency by harnessing the wind to generate electricity.
